Two photo apps in Google store show intrusive and fraudulent ads to millions of users
Google store |
Google has removed two malicious apps from its app store that have been downloaded millions of times by users after they were discovered showing intrusive and annoying advertising programs.
Researchers at the security company Wandera found that the two applications,
" Sun Pro "
and
" Funny Sweet ",
are running more annoying and intrusive ads than usual and can cause the battery to drain the phone and worsen the system with malware.
The researchers also discovered that the two applications ask for more permissions than normal and there are permissions they do not need and this allows them to record sound in the phone and provide full-screen ads without the user's consent and without even opening those ads.
It seems that the two applications are using unique and new techniques to avoid disclosures through user behavior, and this is not the first time that Google deletes applications as each period deletes a number of applications, some of which are known and have millions of users.
Last week, 4 VPN apps were discovered that target users' phones with fraudulent ads, even when running in the background.
Despite Google's efforts to protect and secure its app store, it has come under fire for failing to rein in apps that support malware that has been installed by millions of users without realizing it.
However, the Google Play Store is the best in terms of security and protection so avoid getting apps and downloading from other unknown sources and most importantly, you should check every permission required by any application before installing it on your smartphone.
